4 Ways to use dried hibiscus powder for DIY skincare, haircare, and overall wellness.
3 Things to know before using hibiscus
1. It doesn't stain your skin, fingers, or shower, so don't be afraid of red spots everywhere, it wipes off clean and easy with water since its pigment is water soluble.
2. When drinking hibiscus, PREGNANT women and those who want to become pregnant should know it can induce menstruation and to avoid drinking it.
3. Its high in Vitamin C so you can use it as a supplement to boost immunity, AND on your face for its ability to fade dark marks, acne scars, and anti-aging affects.
Brightening & Tightening Hibiscus Face Mask for Hyperpigmentation:
If you have acne scars, or just uneven skin tone, hibiscus has the properties to even out those blemishes and brighten your skin overall.
1 TBS Hibiscus powder
1 TBS raw honey
1 tsp aloe vera gel
1 tsp fresh squeezed lemon juice
Optional: add a dash of turmeric powder to boost the brightening affects of this face mask.
Apply hibiscus face mask to clean face and leave for 20-30 minutes. You'll feel the hibiscus face mask working its magic as a light pleasant tingle.
Rinse off and moisturize with Grace: Argan Hibiscus Matte Face oil
Anti-dandruff hibiscus shampoo rinse:
Hibiscus softens hair, amino acids promote growth, nourishes scalp to relieve dandruff.
Instructions:
Combine 3 TBS of hibiscus powder or 1 cup of dried flowers with 1 1/2 cups hot water to make a tea.
Add 1/4 cup of un-rinsed rice to the hibiscus tea and soak covered overnight
Next day, strain out the bits and put your rinse into a spray bottle
Apply to roots of hair and comb through. Leave in or rinse out. Be aware of how it feels on your scalp.
If any irritation occurs ( ie allergies), rinse immediately and apply coconut oil to soothe the scalp.
Optional: add grape-seed oil to the spray bottle and shake before applying to hair for added moisture.
Hibiscus Anti-aging Serum:
Create a botanical infusion with the oil of your choice to make an all natural vitamin c serum.
Look at the chart below to see what oils are best for the face and according to skin type.
1. Combine 1 cup coarsely chopped dried hibiscus with a good carrier oil that also matches your skin type. Put enough oil to cover the flowers in a glass jar.
For our Hibiscus face oil, we used Grape seed to infuse and Argan post infusion.
2. Set the jar in a hot water bath for 30mins or candle warmer for 5 hours. Let it sit for 10 days, shaking every so often to boost the infusion.
3. Drain after 10 days and add 1/4 cup another dry face oil of your choice. This should render over a months supply of hibiscus face oil for you. Enjoy!

Immune boosting hibiscus tea:
Combine 1 TBP of dried hibiscus powder to 8oz boiling water.
or
Boil 1/4- 1/2 cup dried hibiscus flowers in 1 cup water, depending on how strong you like your tea.
Add honey to sweeten or enjoy its natural tartness!
Optional: add cinnamon stick, cloves, ginger, citrus to liven up your palate with this already wonderfully tangy tea.
Remember ladies! Avoid if you're trying to get pregnant or are expecting. It helps regulate periods and estrogen so its also amazing for you whenever you're not trying to have a baby.
